It is the only way to counter the chaos spilling out of the Vortex.

If you see 3 Blood Moons then it's too late. You are dragged Into The Vortex.
You must cast a series of Spells to defeat the Vortex. These are powerful expressions of magic that help you cut through the chaos and restore balance.
Each Spell is made up of a combination of different magical Ingredients. Their power is unlocked by the Claraztone pendant worn around the neck of every Alhami.
An Alhami's Claraztone is a mark of mastery and a symbol of hope to the people of Zinan.
There are 4 kinds of magical ingredients. Botany, Alchemy, Astronomy and Incantations. Each are represented by their own colour and symbol.
While an Alhami may possess a good knowledge of all these ingredients, they usually have a core area of expertise. What is yours?
Every ingredient comes with their own distinct flavour. You can find this written on each Ingredient card. When you immerse yourself in them you can unlock a glimpse into the rich history of Zinan!
Instant Hexes like Vortex Lightning or Blight will cause you or your fellow Alhamis to lose certain ingredients thereby slowing you down.
Hexes, on the other hand, compound over time causing mental anguish and despair.
Remember: If an Alhami suffers 3 Hexes at a time, they are consumed by the Vortex! So watch out.
Special items like the Locket of Lost Things and Mimic Mercury help you by retrieving or mimicking lost ingredients.
Meanwhile, the 3 Black Cats, Sultan, Pasha and Agha, help you transfer ingredients from one Alhami to the next.
The cats are your trusted companions. Their ancestry is intimately woven with the history of magic in Zinan. If you make friends with them, perhaps they'll tell you about it.

Well, this is awkward... Technically, the Vortex consumes you and everything you have is lost. However! All is not lost. A fellow Alhami can discard a 'Locket of Lost Things' and revive you! Of course, losing a Locket makes the game harder but where would we be without our friends?
You need to hone your intuition, fellow Alhami. But don't be disheartened! The Vortex wants to break your spirit but we can't let it. Remember, we win together, we lose together. In the meanwhile, hugs.
Mimic Mercury is a unique invention of the alchemist, Silverstrad. It's essentially a wildcard. You can use it instead of any ingredient. It's also a great hack to wriggle out of a sticky Hex situation. (ifykyk)
That is entirely up to you. We recommend a 3 Spell game for beginners or casual play. However, more experienced Alhamis usually play 6 Spells. Legend has it that a pair of Alhamis once outwitted the Vortex in an 8 Spell game. But they had the Expansion Pack to rely on.

When we were playtesting the game, we tried to get them to travel in the right direction but they just wouldn't budge. They work in mysterious ways.
Great question! But sadly, no. It doesn't work like that. Once the Mimic Mercury is turned into an ingredient, it cannot be turned back into Mimic Mercury. The Locket, therefore, is powerless to retrieve it.
No, the Cats cannot be trusted with magical items like the Locket or Mimic Mercury. Don't ask about the pendant around Agha's neck. That's what started it all...
